Sandpit 3: Future Digital Identity

In January 2023, SPRITE+ hosted its third sandpit focused on 'Future Digital Identity', a topic closely linked to our first phase challenge themes. Over the course of 5 sessions, participants formed teams and created projects, which explore future digital identity from multi-disciplinary and stakeholder perspectives.

Building a minimal viable digital identity from digital footprints ('MVDI')

The goal of this project was to establish a foundation for future Digital Identity (DI) systems by leveraging digital footprints, with a key emphasis on trust, privacy, and security as foundational principles.

Digital Product Passports (‘DigiProPass’): Unintended Consequences for Human Digital Identity - A Scoping Study

This project will scope the potential unintended consequences of forthcoming DPPs for human digital identities.

Smoothing the Digital Identity Onboarding Process (‘SMOOTH’)

This project aims to investigate the potential of physical locations for citizen onboarding to DI systems in the UK context and establish appropriate requirements and guidelines for their development and use.

Digital Identity and Life-Course Study ('DIALCS')

The ‘Digital Identity and Life-Course Study’ (DIALCS) has a long term vision to conduct an ambitious and innovative longitudinal, life-course study. This study intends to measure changes in attitudes and behaviours with Digital Identity (DI).

Trust, Rights, and Identity in the Metaverse (‘TRIM’)

This project aims to develop understanding of future harms and rights in the metaverse, using a novel combination of methods to explore three distinct areas.
