About the event

The SPRITE+ Deep Dive on Extended Reality Convergence with Emerging Technologies and implications for Trust, Identity, Privacy, Safety and Security (XRCET-TIPSS) focuses on the future evolution of extended reality (XR) technologies in convergence with other emerging technologies (EmTech) and what this means for TIPSS risks and risk mitigation.

Our community mapping day in March is a foundational step for the XRCET Deep Dive, as community input will define our priorities for the Deep Dive reviews, and determine funding priorities for future events and activities.

Held over 24 hours, this in-person event will scope and prioritise the most important XR convergences from trust, identity, privacy, safety, and security perspectives. Participants will include XR/ EmTech/ TIPSS researchers and practitioners from all career stages and academic disciplines, and from industry, government, and NGOs.

Participants will arrive in the afternoon of Thursday 26th March for an evening event at a physical bookshop - the glorious, independent House of Books and Friends. Our focus will be on how science fiction and speculative fiction methods can help us imagine the future. This will prepare participants for a creative and productive day on Friday 27th March when we'll use a variety of creative scenario generation and prioritisation methods to imagine how the convergence of XR other new and emerging technologies (including, but not exclusively, AI) might create or change TIPSS risks in different contexts.

Application deadline: 13 February 2026
