About the event

The SPRITE+ Deep Dive on Extended Reality Convergence with Emerging Technologies and implications for Trust, Identity, Privacy, Safety and Security (XRCET-TIPSS) focuses on the future evolution of extended reality (XR) technologies in convergence with other emerging technologies (EmTech) and what this means for TIPSS risks and risk mitigation.

We welcomed SPRITE+ members from across the UK to our community mapping day in March 2026. This was a foundational step for the XRCET Deep Dive, with community input helping to define our priorities for the Deep Dive reviews, and determine funding priorities for future events and activities.

We began the event at the beautiful House of Books & Friends, with a thought-provoking talk from Dr Will Slocombe on how science fiction and speculative fiction methods can help us imagine the future. The next day, attendees joined us at etc.venues to explore future XR convergences, their implications and potential TIPSS risks in a creative workshop led by SPRITE+ Co-Director Emma Barrett, CEO of Limina Immersive Catherine Allen and our newest Research Fellow Salman Khan.

Thank you to everyone who attended - your input was invaluable in defining our priorities for the XRCET Deep Dive!
