About the event

The locus of control for digital identity systems has traditionally been with the system owner rather than the data subject about whom identity claims relate. More recently there has been a move towards more person centric architectures with self-sovereign digital identities and verifiable credentials.

In this presentation, Prof. Edgar Whitley will introduce the thinking behind these approaches, showing how they address concerns about privacy and control of personal data and explore the extent to which real world applications might utilise blockchain technologies.
