Synthetic Data
The data we collect, share, and analyse increasingly drives decision-making across sectors, but with it comes an urgent challenge: how can we extract value from data while preserving privacy and trust? This SPRITE+ Community of Interest is designed to bring together leading thinkers and practitioners to explore the transformative potential of synthetic data in addressing this challenge.
Synthetic data – from generative models to rule-based simulation – offers a frontier where privacy protection, data utility, and innovation intersect. This forum will convene experts across disciplines to consider how emerging methods (like GANs, VAEs, diffusion models, and CART) are being applied in practice, especially in high-stakes domains such as health, policing, social research, and finance. We are critically examining trade-offs between fidelity and risk, explore practical and ethical deployment strategies, and identify future needs for regulation, tooling, and standards.
Through, running events, focused discussion, and collaborative writing, we aim to build a new community of practice at the intersection of data synthesis and TIPS. Whether you’re innovating new models or applying them in the field, this is your invitation to help shape the future of data-driven innovation that puts privacy first.
